The Truth About Gua Sha And How It Impacted My Entire Routine

Gua sha is a traditional Chinese medical treatment in which the skin is scraped with a smooth-edged instrument to produce light bruising. It is believed to improve circulation and resolve inflammation. The practice is sometimes used as a form of alternative medicine or as a complementary therapy. Some people also use gua sha as a way to relax and reduce stress. It is generally considered safe when performed by a trained practitioner, although it can cause temporary bruising and discomfort.

During a gua sha treatment, the practitioner will use a smooth-edged instrument, such as a spoon or a jade stone, to apply pressure to the skin and muscles. The instrument is typically moved in a downward motion along the skin, applying pressure and causing the skin to blush or turn red. The process may be repeated several times over the course of the treatment.

Gua sha is typically performed on the back, neck, and shoulders, but it can also be done on other areas of the body. The treatment can be somewhat uncomfortable, as it involves the application of pressure to the skin and muscles. However, it is not typically painful.

After a gua sha treatment, the skin may be temporarily bruised or swollen. These effects should resolve within a few days. Some people also report feeling relaxed and less tense after a gua sha treatment.

My Experience

In my personal experience, I started using Gua sha and a Roller together when the quarantine started. I would practice with both for 10 minutes for each exercise and use them before going to sleep but not in the mornings. In the beginning, I started to focus on my jaw and neck. I put too much pressure and, later that week, I found myself sick. I continued with the exercises after tons of reviews from TikTok that claimed it was a game-changing tool. I started noticing how my cheeks were less swollen and my neck was more feminine a month later.

I would recommend it because it worked but it actually takes a lot of time, energy and it won’t stay like that if you don’t keep your routine up.
